Most pages ranking for “best CMMC compliance company” are vendor roundups — usually written by one of the vendors on the list, usually with a politely rigged scorecard. We are not going to do that. This page is openly our case: who CLOUD2E is, where our engineers come from, and why we believe a Northern Virginia defense contractor shopping for CMMC help should put us on the shortlist. Every factual claim below comes with a way to verify it, because in this business, “trust me” is a red flag.
Where we come from (it isn’t web hosting)
CLOUD2E’s engineers built their careers securing some of the most critical infrastructure in the United States — Intelligence Community programs, Department of War networks, and systems supporting Marine Corps missions — including environments operating at the Top Secret level. Our team holds TS and higher clearances. We did not arrive at defense compliance from web design or break-fix IT; we arrived from the networks where failure is a national-security event.
That history matters for a concrete reason. Long before CMMC existed, this was the work where security verification was already unforgiving: system accreditation under ICD 503 and the NIST SP 800-53 Risk Management Framework — hundreds of controls, independent assessors, and a government authorizing official who signs their name to your system’s risk. NIST SP 800-171’s 110 requirements — the backbone of CMMC Level 2 certification — are a focused subset of that same discipline. We practice CMMC from above it, not beneath it.
What that pedigree changes for your program
- Scoping judgment that comes from classified-environment habits: boundaries drawn tightly and honestly, enclaves (including Microsoft 365 GCC High) designed the way cross-domain thinking demands — which is also where most of the cost savings live.
- An evidence culture, not an evidence scramble: in TS-accredited environments, artifacts exist before anyone asks. We run client programs the same way, which is why assessment week is an administrative event for our clients, not a crisis.
- Technical depth under the paperwork: STIG hardening, 800-53-to-800-171 control fluency, RMF muscle memory, and real cloud engineering — we build and operate the environments, not just the binders.
- No subcontracted engineering: the people who map your controls are the people who implement them.
The scoreboard that matters — every line checkable
- CMMC Level 2, held by us: our own enclave, our own SSP, our own C3PAO assessment — passed. The story behind our Level 2 preparation practice.
- Cyber AB Registered Provider Organization: our live RPO listing, with our Owner/CEO a Registered Practitioner.
- Listed in the MSP Collective’s ESP Directory — where every listing is validated with the C3PAO that issued the certification.
- Northern Virginia, physically: based in Haymarket, serving the corridor from the Pentagon to Dulles with onsite coverage across NoVA, DC, and Maryland — CMMC’s physical-protection family is not a remote-only sport.
- We build our own tooling: the CMMC Tracker, a GCC High–deployed system of record, free for every compliance client.
How to verify every claim on this page
- Look us up in the Cyber AB marketplace — RPO and RP registrations are public records.
- Ask us for our Level 2 certificate details and the C3PAO that issued it — then call that C3PAO. A real certificate survives the phone call.
- Check the MSP Collective ESP Directory — third-party validated, not self-reported.
- Compare anything we say about the program against the DoD’s own documentation at dodcio.defense.gov/cmmc — never against a vendor’s blog, including ours.
Shopping around anyway? Good. Do it like this.
We would rather lose a deal on verified facts than win one on fog. So take the test we apply to ourselves and run every provider you talk to through it: Have you passed the assessment you’re selling? Who does the engineering — your W-2 staff or a subcontractor I’ve never met? Show me a sanitized SSP and evidence package. What’s your scoping position, and can you build the enclave? Will you be in the room during my assessment?
The full question list lives in how to choose a CMMC compliance company, what the engagement should cost is in the 2026 cost breakdown, and the whole certification path is mapped in our CMMC certification guide. The defense industry’s own vetting questionnaire — ND-ISAC’s MSP shopping guide — is answered by us line by line. Then call us last — we like going after the other pitches.
